Our Process

Ready for your hair and makeup trial? Kathleen and her artists can't wait to work their magic and make you feel and look the most beautiful version of yourself. Below are ways you can prepare for your trial with the NJ/NYC On-Site hair and makeup team.

Your Hair & Makeup Trial Process & Timeline

1

We highly recommend booking your hair and makeup trial as soon as you can.
Most brides book 6-12 months from their wedding day.

2

After you've booked your trial, begin to gather inspirational images for your dream hair and makeup look. Show us your Pinterest board or saved social media pictures at your trial!

3

Day of your trial: Prepare for your hair trial by washing and completely drying your hair the evening or morning of. Blow out your hair 1 day before using a root lifter + mousse or styling product.
At your hair trial, we are just styling your hair and need to work with a clean canvas.

Prepare for your makeup trial with a fresh and moisturized face. No makeup, please.
Bring any bridal accessories such as your veil or hair accessory. Block us off for 1.5-2.5 hours of your day. This will be an involved process where we will be communicating and carefully creating your wedding day look. You may want to consider hair extensions depending on the look you would like to achieve. Your trial is a time where we "try out" what may look best on you and provide suggestions and note what colors, products, and styles look best on you. Please note we can tweak the details of your look on your wedding day.

4

Trial discussion: We will discuss; the day-of bridal party/bridesmaid services. Please come to your trial with an approximate idea of how many people will need our services. We will go over the wedding day morning timeline, hair prep, and how to start a skin care routine to get your skin ready and glowing for your big day.

5

After your trial: Pay attention to how your hair/makeup feels and holds up throughout the day or evening. Take into consideration what you love about your look. IF you would like to try an alternate look we can set up a second trial. Please contact us the next day/24 hours after your trial so we may schedule and secure your artist for your second trial.

6

We'll stay in touch: Communication is key. Email us (hello@kathleenbenjamin.com) with any questions leading up to your wedding day. We can even provide hair and makeup for your bridal shower, bachelorette, and rehearsal dinner.

Your Wedding Day Process and Timeline

1

The On-Site Hair and Makeup team will arrive at your NJ getting ready location at the scheduled start time to set up their station. Please be sure there is ample flat surfaces, outlets, and a chair ready.

2

The bride's hair will be set until about an hour before the photographer arrives. This way the bride is able to eat, relax, or finish up any last minute details.

3

The first person on the schedule will be seated for hair and makeup. Then we continue in order of schedule for each person.

4

1.5 hours before the Photographer arrives, we start on the Brides look. Bridesmaids should get dressed and ready for pictures.

5

Once the bride approves of her look, she is off to slip into her bridal gown. We will attach the veil and also show a bridesmaid how. Touch up any makeup the bride needs.
